John Yacavone introduced Joe Clifford by pointing out that Joe was named by The New Hampshire Business Review to its “New Hampshire 200” list for 2025 and that he was named winner of the “Innovator of the Year award” in 2023 by the Upper Valley Business Alliance.
Joe has served as executive director of the Lebanon Opera House since 2017. For the 17 years previous to holding this position, Joe rose through the ranks of the administration for Dartmouth College’s Hopkins Center for the Arts.
Joe Clifford had a simple message: The arts are alive and well in the Upper valley.” The Lebanon Opera House was recently renovated with new seats and lighting—helping to establish Lebanon as the center of arts in the Upper Valley. The LOH raised $4.2 million for the renovation campaign.
The LOH has developed on-location programs outside of the four walls. Nexus is the center of its on-location programs. It developed as a response to Covid: “being free” is central to its program. Nexus will run from August 8 through August 10 this year. The main stage will be in Colburn Park with two other stages located in downtown Lebanon. The Lebanon Opera House is not reliant on state or federal funding.
